Independent Education Evaluations

Independent Education Evaluations

Dr. Gelbar routinely conducts Independent Education Evaluations (IEE), which are evaluations completed by a person with appropriate expertise who is not employed by the school system that the child attends.  The IEE is paid for by the school district and is provided as a legal protection for parents under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act.  Parents can ask for an IEE when they disagree with the findings from evaluations provided by school personnel.  The IEP team must consider the results and recommendations from an IEE.

Dr. Gelbar has expertise in diagnosing children with mental health conditions, ADHD, Autism, learning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities. He also conducts secondary transition assessments, threat and risk assessments, and functional behavior assessments.
